Ethics and mental hygiene in the creation of documentary theatre

This debate focuses on exploring the fine line between the mental involvement of creators and the healthy distance that has to be maintained when working with sensitive topics. We are interested in the specific experiences creators face during this type of work and their insight into possible rules for ethical communication with interviewees. We would like to provide mutual feedback on how to help in destigmatising important topics without harming ourselves.

14th September 2023 at 6 p.m. will be held the third of the online debates organised in co-production with the independent Czech Nesladim Collective and the Spanish L’altre international festival of Performing Arts and Mental Health. The discussion will be held in english.

The aim of the debates is to find areas of overlap between theatrical productions and a wide range of topics covering mental health, mental hygiene and ethics. The starting point for this project is to map out a network of European theatres dealing with these issues and, subsequently, to share theatre-related experiences. The debates are aimed at a professional, as well as a wider audience, with an interest in documentary theatre and its various forms.
